Hi, everyone! We’ve had loads of exciting stuff happening inside of Hasten so here are a few of our mission updates! 🙂

We are still in the midst of raising funds for the families affected by the landslide that hit the remote village in Ree, Nepal. The total number of the families affected is actually around 30. It’s higher than we first thought, and it’s 17 families that lost their land and homes. The good news is the families that lost their homes are able to stay in the school until classes start back up this fall. We have been able to raise around $1,000 that we can send right away to help with emergency relief aid. We are putting back extra funds as more comes in so we can plant the gardens and buy chickens for the families in the next few months once monsoon ends. We are still needing around $5,000 more to help with this endeavor. They are in need of sheets of ‘metal-tin’ to help rebuild homes for the 17 families whose houses were covered in the landslide. This will all come out of the funding as we continue to raise support for them.

The Hasten Nepal Church plant is underway. Our leader Lako is beginning with meeting and building the team from our Hasten House and we are looking to launch sometime this fall. Please pray and agree with us that we will be able to find a good building centrally located to start the church. The church is going to include both the English and Nepali language in its services. The songs will also be translated from Nepali to English which will appeal to many young students wanting to improve their English skills in the city. Nepal is in need of a modern model church to help spread the Gospel to many of the young people that are coming into the city from the local villages. We know that as we shine the light of God in a powerful way it will grow exponentially!

Nepal mission update - English class
Sewing Class at Center

Regarding our ongoing programs, we will be consolidating all our education, literacy, village development, sewing class, and feeding programs through the Nepali church once we are officially launched. This way we can be more of a witness to the Nepali people and the government who will see us helping the people in the name of Jesus. It’s coming together, and after having some very long meetings with the Nepali leadership we all agree that this is the best way to move everything forward to the next level.

Nepal mission update - Sewing Class
Sewing on machine in class

The sewing class that has been ongoing since last year is going to start becoming more and more of a business so we can begin hiring a few of the single and widowed moms with children. We will start having them work with our team and learn to sew while being paid to work. This also includes us feeding them and their children, something that has been strong on our hearts to do. The women currently are doing manual hard labor jobs to make a living for themselves and their children (manual labor means they are lifting heavy rocks on their backs all day or breaking up rocks at a quarry.) These are the women we’ve had on our heart to bless. By helping them through the business it will give us a way to take care of them, feed their children who are at risk and provide a way for our leadership to be taken care of while doing the work of Hasten Nepal. The things they make will largely be sold in Nepal to help grow the local economy by making school uniforms, shopping bags, ladies clothes etc….Other items that are made for the USA customer base will be sold on our website to help fuel the program so we can continue to hire and educate more women.

It’s all starting to come full circle! We are super excited at the progress made so far. Please continue to keep us and the Nepali leadership of Hasten in your prayers as we advance forward. To God be the glory!

Thank you for your support in this work. You are helping people find Jesus and be given freedom from oppression and slavery! Over and over again Dustan and I are reminded that this life is short, and all we can take from it is the lives we impact. Without a doubt, seeding into lives is 100% the best investment we can ever make.

Here’s an encouraging promise that is ours to stand on as we give to help others,

Psalm 41:1-3 – Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The LORD rescues them when they are in trouble. The LORD protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. The LORD nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.

Psalm 112:9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.

Thank you for your giving and prayers! God bless,

All in for the Gospel,

Darlene Stanley
